What special interests do you have?
My interests include legal reform and helping community organizations that help the less fortunate. Aside from these “lofty” special interests, my special interests are truly my children. My wife and I have devoted our lives to helping our boys grow into caring, successful people by providing them with a strong, values-based education and with opportunities that broaden their awareness of their role in the world. I feel that whatever positive influence I am able to have on the world will come as much from my children as from the work I do.
How did you first hear of the "Are You Up" Challenge?
I read about the challenge in Tom Watkins column in the Detroit Free Press.
Briefly describe how this program has changed you both professionally and personally?
The professional training I have received during the challenge has helped me better understand how to use the tools I already have to more effectively communicate my vision – especially to people who hear me on the radio or see me on television. Since beginning this program, I have appeared as a guest on two of the largest television networks in Europe and Asia, and I strongly believe the training I received from Envision U helped make this happen and helped me make the most of the opportunities. This program has strongly reinforced the importance of being aware of my habits and continuously evaluating whether those habits serve my goals.
What would you like others to understand about Envision U and the Are You Up Challenge?
Envision U and the Are You Up? challenge are for leaders (and those who want to be leaders) who understand they can achieve even more in life by re-evaluating everything they do. Look at it this way: have you ever said, “I wish I knew then what I know now?” Most of us have, and the professional coaches at Envision U have developed a program that helps you achieve a clear understanding of yourself and your goals now that you might only have in ten years with the benefit of hindsight. Get that hindsight now with Envision U!
What is the single most valuable piece of information that you have gained from your participation in the Challenge?
The one piece of information I have learned during the challenge that stands out most in my mind is just how important the tone of my voice is along with my physiology in shaping someone's impression of me. I feel that I have always focused so much on the words I use that I have overlooked the importance of tone and body language.
What would you tell someone who is considering signing up for the next iteration of Are You Up?
I would highly recommend the program to everyone who is interested in learning how to become a more effective communicator. This training is not just for sales people, so make room in your schedule for this challenge!! Everyone benefits from knowing how to important it is to constantly re-examine the habits we have that guide our actions and influence our behavior. Quite simply, Are You Up? will help you become a better person.
